I am delighted to have been affiliated with DiversityLab and its OnRamp Fellowship Program since its inception in 2014. “The OnRamp Fellowship is a re-entry platform that matches experienced lawyers returning to the workforce after a hiatus with law firms and legal departments for year-long paid positions. As part of this structured returnship, Fellows have the chance to demonstrate their amazing value in the marketplace while also broadening their experience, skills, and contacts.” The importance of support for returning to the workforce is crucial. As one of a number of OnRamp coaches, it is a pleasure to work with amazing women lawyers in this phase of their careers.
Here is a tip for building confidence:
- When starting something new, your degree of confidence may get shaky, and you may question your capability. If you need a boost, try this:
- There is a learning curve in everything new. Think back over past accomplishments, and review what about you made them successful? What actions did you take?
- Question limiting thoughts challenging capability, i.e., “I don’t know how…” with curiosity about learning something new and what you can contribute.
Identify what makes you unique. No one has experienced work or life like you. Your talents and perspectives provide a diversity of thought that contributes to innovation.
